Abstract Three new lupin alkaloids, (−)-14β-hydroxysophoridine, (−)-12β-hydroxysophocarpine and (−)-9α-hydroxysophocarpine, were isolated from the seeds of Sophora viciifolia together with 10 known lupin alkaloids, (+)-9α-hydroxymatrine, (−)-14β-hydroxymatrine, (+)-lupanine, (−)-5,6-dehydrolupanine, (−)-cytisine, (+)-matrine, (+)-matrine N -oxide, (−)-sophocarpine, (+)-sophocarpine N -oxide and (−)-sophoridine.
