Abstract

Six triterpenoids derivatives of lupane-type structure were isolated from the low-polar fraction of ethyl acetate extract of dry resin of dragon's blood tree (Dracaena cinnabari Balf., (Agavaceae)), endemic to Socotra island, Yemen. Three of these lupane derivatives (2, 3 and 6) are new and we report them here for the first time. Their structure were determined by GC/MS library and identified by comparing their mass spectra with NIST library data, and according to their spectral data (IR and NMR). The structure of the other three known lupane derivatives (1, 4 and 5) were identified by comparing their spectral data (IR, MS and NMR) with corresponding spectral data from the literature.
