Abstract

Prayer is a fundamental dimension for the life of every Christian. The relationship with God is the basis of every action and, for anyone who adheres to the “spirituality of unity” of Chiara Lubich, there is a typical way to seeking union with God or increase it: the love of neighbour. The life of prayer is at the same time a personal and a communal experience, which requires that we proceed together on a path of collective holiness. The “spirituality of communion”, where the neighbour is an indispensable way to the union with God, focusing in particular on love, presents Mary as the model par excellence. She is the one, indeed, that “suggests” us a communitarian and universal spirituality, the spirituality of unity, which teaches men and women of today how to be authentic Christians. The prayer and the glance over the world through the eyes of Mary push the Christian beyond the intimate and personal dimension, to weave fraternal relationships with everyone in everyday life, creating and transforming social structures into structures of communion.
