Abstract

Luminescence excitation and emission spectra of ZnS:Ce, Li phosphors have been measured at liquid nitrogen temperature. The samples quenched at 1080°C exhibits a Ce 3+ emission and a strong edge emission band. Their excitation spectra show dips at the exciton absorption energies. Heat-treatment at 400°C changes the shapes of the emission and excitation spectra. The Ce 3+ emission spectra also change according to the wavelength of the exciting light, which indicates multiple structures of the Ce 3+ centers in ZnS.
