Abstract

CaB6O10: Eu3+ polycrystals were prepared using the solid-state reaction method. The XRD diffractograms, excitation and emission spectra, as well as the decay time profiles were measured and analyzed. The luminescent properties of the samples depend slightly on the concentration of the doped europium (III) ions, in the range of 570–860nm. The intensity ratio between the charge transfer band and the 4f–4f transitions is low. The most intensive is the red 5D0→7F2 emission (604–633nm), with the maximum at 612nm. The measured lifetimes are equal to about 1.88ms and do not change up to the 3% concentration of the Eu3+ ions. Quantum yield (QY) was calculated from the emission spectra and measured. The most intensive luminescence (measured QY=27% at λexc=393nm) possesses a sample with 3% concentration of the doped Eu3+ ions.
