Abstract

The complex, bis(2,2′-bipyridine)-bis-cyanoruthenium(II), (D), forms three detectable ground-state complexes with silver(I): DAg +, D 2Ag +, and DAg 2 2+. The first, DAg +, is isolable and strongly luminescent. Both DAg +∗ and the oxidized complex, DAg 2+, are stable during photochemical experiments. The enhanced luminescence of DAg + indicates intramolecular redox reactions are not an important route for non-radiative decay.
