Abstract

In this study, GdBO3 phosphors doped with varying concentrations of Sm3+ were synthesized using the solid-state reaction technique at a temperature of 900 °C for 18 h. The SmXGd1−XBO3 phosphors were investigated on different chemical compositions, ranging from x = 0.000–0.150. The crystal structure exhibited a hexagonal GdBO3 phase. Excitation by a 403 nm wavelength resulted in the observed maximum emission peak at 604 nm from all SmXGd1−XBO3 phosphors. The highest emission intensity was achieved at x = 0.075. The emitted light was determined to be orange based on the calculated stimulated CIE chromaticity coordinates, and the correlated color temperature (CCT) was found to be 1634 K. Furthermore, the radioluminescence performance of the phosphors was measured to be 14.3 % and 113.9 % compared to that of commercial BGO and red luminescence powder, respectively.
