Abstract

Optical and structural properties of concentration variation of Eu3+ doped SrO-ZnO-PbO-P2O5 glasses have been reported. The structural properties are analysed from XRD and FTIR spectra. The oscillator strength and Judd-Ofelt intensity parameters are determined from the absorption. The strongest emission peak is obtained at 612 nm (red) for 5D0→7F2 transition. The luminescence emission waning is observed for more than 2 mol% Eu3+ concentration due to loss of excitation energy by cross-relaxation and migration process. Different radiative parameters are calculated using the Judd-Ofelt parameters. Effect of concentration quenching on the radiative parameters has been highlighted. The decay profiles are fitted with single-exponential curves. The CIE chromaticity coordinates are located in the reddish-orange region. The present EuSrZnLP glasses could be potentially used for LED and photonic devices.
