Abstract

AbstractLuminescence spectra of YAB:Er crystals were studied in the ultraviolet‐visible region and in the 10–300 K temperature range. The dominant Er3+‐emission belonged to the 4S3/2 → 4I15/2 transition (18000–18500 cm–1). Its Stark components were assigned and found to be consistent with those derived from the absorption spectra. The lifetime of the luminescence was determined as a function of temperature and Er‐concentration, and the decay kinetics was analyzed. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
