Abstract
Great enhancement of molecular nitrogen luminescence in the afterglow of nitrogen-helium gas mixtures was observed at temperatures ≤ 10 K. The effect is explained by the increased efficiency of the recombination of nitrogen atoms and energy transfer from metastable nitrogen molecules and helium atoms to nitrogen molecules in the cold dense helium vapor.Great enhancement of molecular nitrogen luminescence in the afterglow of nitrogen-helium gas mixtures was observed at temperatures ≤ 10 K.
