Abstract

A europium (III) complex containing 4-n-octyloxydibenzoylmethane (ODBM) ligands doped poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) was synthesized. Its luminescence properties have been investigated by fluorescence emission spectra and lifetime measurements. According to the fluorescence emission spectra, the Judd–Ofelt parameters Ω2, Ω4 of Eu(ODBM)3Phen doped PMMA have been calculated and the radiative properties were presented also. It showed that the long alkyloxy in ligand in the ODBM ligand can improve the radiative properties. The evaluation of the radiative properties showed that Eu(ODBM)3Phen doped PMMA has potential to be used for applications in amplifiers and lasers.
