Abstract

Whereas under low irradiance excitation, only the large clusters of a polydisperse population luminesce, via recombination at defects, under high irradiance this path is saturated and clusters of all sizes show band edge emission, but at a higher energy than in bulk samples. The shift is satisfactorily accounted for by the confinement of the electrons and holes in zero dimensional space.
