Abstract

Singlet and triplet excited state parameters of adenine, adenosine and adenosine phosphates are determined and compared. Progressive substitution of undissociated terminal phosphate groups increases triplet lifetimes in the order π p (adenosine 5′-triphosphate) > π p (adenosine 5′-diphosphate) > π p((adenosine 5′-monophosphate) > π p (adeninine) > π p (adenine).
