Abstract

Polarized spectroscopy studies of several perylene-based polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons make it possible to evaluate electronic transition moment directions, which, combined with calculations, leads to the determination of the structure of the lowest-energy conformers. Fluorescence anisotropy data suggest conformational changes upon electronic excitation.
