Abstract

Abstract It is found that solvent viscosity in the 0.2–150 cP range is without appreciable effect on the radiative and non-radiative electronic transitions in biacetyl solutions. The luminescence and photochemical data are reviewed and it is concluded that nearly all excited biacetyl molecules return to the ground state via a triplet state.
