Abstract

A brief review of recent results obtained at systematic study of the luminescence and photo-thermally stimulated defect creation processes in various undoped and doped PbWO 4 crystals is presented. Origin of the blue—B and two green—G(I) and G(II) emissions is clarified. Various localized exciton states are identified and their decay into defects is found. Origin of the defects, created at the decay of self-trapped and localized exciton states and MoO 4 2 - -related states, is studied both by TSL and ESR methods. The origin of the TSL peaks and the mechanisms of defect creation and recombination processes are discussed.
