Abstract

A 24 year-old man with Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome (ie, capillary lymphatic venous malformation) involving both lower extremities presented for prophylactic inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement before surgery. The patient had a history of life-threatening pulmonary embolism after an earlier debulking procedure, for which he had been administered anticoagulation with warfarin. Prophylactic IVC filter placement was planned before repeat debulking.
