Abstract

A thermographic field method is being developed for non destructively detecting disbonds under heating mats in air intakes of Bundeswehr aircraft. At first appropriate test parts were designed and fabricated. After experiments with these parts disassembled air intakes and finally air intakes mounted on airplanes were thermographically examined The tests were carried out by various laboratories. Thermography with hot air gun, infrared radiators, infrared flashes and pulses were applied according to facilities at each laboratory. The test results were compared and assessed.
