Abstract

80 km to the ENE of Paris, near Château-Thierry,limestones and sandy marls rest transgressively upon Saint-Ouen formation. They contain a ludian (Late Eocene) marine fauna. Among the Ostracodes, one species, Forbescythere forbesi, is observed for the first time in the Paris Basin; it is, in the Hampshire Basin, a characteristic species of the Headon Beds.
