Abstract

A great amount of power is consumed in overcoming friction in the high-speed tex tile spindle. Its proper lubrication is therefore a tremendously important engineering problem. An experimental study of this problem is reported in this paper. We attempt primarily to uncover and to analyze some of the factors involved in order to arrive at the characteristics of the oil-lubricated, cast-iron bolster spindle.
