Abstract

Digital photogrammetry has emerged from the combination of analytical photogrammetry and digital image processing and interpretation techniques. Contrast enhancement, resampling, and image matching methods already found their way to many applications in photogrammetry. Other methods, like tree search, are less well known. This paper reviews tree search methods and strategies that are commonly used in other disciplines. Several examples are given of photogrammetric tasks that could benefit from these methods. The suitability of the reviewed methods for the photogrammetric applications is discussed.
