Abstract
The use of short-duration laser pulses in both two-beam and multiple-beam interferometry, and a new interferometer configuration adapted for short-pulse usage are described. Avoidance of spurious phase shifts due to nonlinearities in the propagation of the short pulses, and the relationship between finesse and pulse duration are discussed. Experimental data is shown to demonstrate time-integrated and time-resolved short-pulse interferometry.© (1977) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
