Abstract
This paper studies the vibration control of a flexible beam using a constrained viscoelastic damping treatment and layered shape memory alloy (SMA). The SMA layer is used as an actuator, which is capable of changing its elastic modulus and recovery stress. A linear control law is determined based on optimal regulator theory. The control results are discussed.© (1995) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. Downloading of the abstract is permitted for personal use only.
