Abstract

The advent of the B-2 program brought many unique and challenging demands upon the nondestructive inspection (NDI) organization. One of the most important was the verification of bondline integrity on bonded composite structural assemblies. Skin-to-core bondline integrity inspections of low `Z' composite materials used on the B-2 program presented formidable challenges to conventional NDI techniques. In addition to these difficult anomaly detection requirements, a projected high-rate of inspection (14,000 sq ft/month) necessitated that an innovative, rapid inspection method be implemented to support critical production schedules.© (1995) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
