Abstract

In this paper, three new ultrasonic iaginc, techniques aiming at more exact characterization of tissue are presented. First, new ton ographic imaging system of nonlinear parameter B/A is proposed. Scanning low frequency pumping waves and high frequency probing waves are used. Several images of biological objects and their interpretation are given. Second, a method of active incoherent imaging which is effective both for diffusive and specular objects is shown. A scanning transmitter and array reciever and 2-D nonlinear spectral estimation are used. Finally, an active adaptive imaging method through an unknown inhomogeneous layer is given. It is based on the eigen vector decomposition of the recieved data matrix. The degree of focusing is judged and the best beam is formed. Experimental results are shown as well as numerical results.© (1982) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
