Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper describes a newly developed color vision model for robotic systems. This new model consists of a normal lens, a neutral density filter, an infraredfilter, two different prisms, four different bands of optical pass filters, fourmonochromatic CCD cameras and a camera controller. This vision system isvery effective by using some low-level processing technology to realize a higher level human-like color visual perception. A simple experiment was done to demonstrate human-like color vision by employing a modified opponent color theory. 1. INTRODUCTION Robotic vision is now one of the most important areas of sensor development invarious industrial fields such as robotic manipulation in a production line and in home automation. Visual sensors can be classified into four different kinds: (1) Image sensors, (2) Color sensors, (3) Position sensors and (4) Proximity sensors. Image sensors and color sensors have been developed as visual processing systems in the field of robotics.
