Abstract

The paper deals with selected methods of knowledge acquisition for intelligent information systems that may be applied for aiding technical diagnostics of machinery and equipment. Two main kinds of knowledge are discussed, i.e. declarative and procedural knowledge. Classification of knowledge acquisition methods is presented with respect to main knowledge sources. Some methods of knowledge acquisition from domain experts and from databases are described. A process of declarative knowledge acquisition is discussed in detail. Examples of applications of the knowledge acquisition methods are shown.
