Abstract

Recent developments in laser technology, electronics and data-processing have greatly. enhanced, the potential application of lasers to the remote sensing, of atmospheric, pollutants and contaminants. Although reiote sensing of contaminants goes back some 20 years by infrared, techniques, at least in conceptual feasibility studies, recent advances in laser technology have opened, new vistas. The older technology required coop erative reflectors or remote active radiation sources, which limited their applicability.© (1974) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
