Abstract

The paper describes an approach for interpreting and correcting single line drawings to reconstruct three dimensional polyhedral objects in space. In order to compensate the information lost during perspective projection, suitable a priori knowledge about the object is introduced as additional information. Rules are implemented to automatically generate hypothesis about relations of the object in space. Algorithms of rules are implemented to automatically generate hypothesis about relations of the object in space. Algorithms of the inverse perspective, known in literature, are adopted for the approach. The input sketches may not correspond to the a priori knowledge of the object. To achieve an optimal 3D-description of the object, all available observations and additional information are to be taken into consideration in a least-squares adjustment to estimate the unknown object points and to correct the inconsistent sketches.
