Abstract
Over half of backplane layers in computers are often required for clock distribution because of isolation and termination problems associated with high frequency signals on electrical wires. Glass and plexiglass sheets have been demonstrated for optical distribution of these signals. We present advantages and disadvantages of laser glasses allowing gain to compensate for output losses.
