Abstract
ABSTRACT The proportional division property of quadratic Bezier curves is presented and proved in the paper. Based on that property, a new computer graphic algorithm to generate quadratic Bezier curves are derived. Discussed in the paper also are the approach to plot cubic Bezier curves with the derived algorithm and two inverse fitting methods for quadratic Bezier curves under certain boundaiy conditions.Keywords: Bezier curve, proportional division, computer graphic algorithm, inverse fitting 1. INTRODUCTION Quadratic and cubic Bezier curves are widely used in free-form curve design for the relations between Beziercurves and their control polygons are explicit,so the curves' shaping and modifications are made easily. Besides. the iteration computing work for plotting the curves is comparatively less. which is essential for an interactive graphic design system to meetthe requirement for display speed.
