Abstract
"Cruising Différance in 3 Scenes" compiles three sequences from William Friedkin’s highly contested 1980 film Cruising. By employing several critical readings throughout the decades since the film’s release, this video essay captures the debate around its representation of violence and queerness, as well as its subsequent reclamation.
