Abstract

Beauveria bassiana produced conidia most prominetly in the yeast mannitol (YM) medium among six agar media tested. Yeast extract was the most suitable among five test nitrogen sources in the YM medium: addition of 0.5% yeast extract to the medium accelerated conidial production to the highest level. Yeast extract more than 0.5% suppressed the production of conidia. Mannitol was the most suitable carbon source among three test sugar alcohols. The optimum concentration of mannitol was 2.0% in the YM medium. This fungus produced conidia under day light irradiation as well as in the dark. It was found BLB light irradiation suppressed the conidial production.
