Abstract

Lush rainfall intensity in Indonesia mostly often affecting to flood disaster. Managing in flood problem must be supporting by good infrastructure of flood management such as dam, irrigation system, drainages,etc. In designing a water building, we needs maximum rainfall information with certain return period. The amount of maximum rainfall for design are different according to lifetime and reservoir capacity such as for a big dam that needs maximum rainfall information with long return period approximately 50,100 years, and for irrigation system needs shorter maximum rainfall information about 2,5,10 years. We use three methods in this analysis: E.J. Gumbel Method, Log Pearson III Method and Iway Kadoya Method. Result of analysis from above methods show that Log Pearson III method and Iway Kadoya method as identically as E.J Gumbell method.

Latar Belakang

Indonesia secara geografis diapit oleh dua samudera dan dua benua, wilayahnya berbentuk kepulauan. Wilayah Indonesia terletak di antara Benua Asia dan Benua Australia, serta diapit oleh Samudera India dan Samudara Pasifik, di antara dua belahan bumi Utara dan Selatan ( Sandy, 1995). Secara geografis Indonesia memiliki sifat yang khusus, membentang dari barat ke timur antara antara 98o BT- 141o BT dan 6o –11o LU. Sebagian besar (70%) wilayah Indonesia merupakan lautan, sedangkan wilayah daratannya terdiri dari lebih kurang 17 500 pulau besar dan kecil, dan umumnya memiliki permukaan yang bergunung-gunung, sehingga (Ramage, 1971) menyebutnya sebagai maritime continent. Kondisi wilayah tersebut menyebabkan adanya keragaman iklim di wilayah Indonesia. Keragaman iklim ini terjadi karena perbedaan letak geografis dan kondisi topografis yang kompleks (Hamada, 2003). Iklim adalah unsur Geografis yang paling penting dalam mempengaruhi perikehidupan manusia (Sandy, 1996). Pentingnya iklim bagi kehidupan manusia adalah atas dasar kenyataan bahwa iklim dapat mempengaruhi kehidupan manusia
