Met die uitsondering van De Villiers (1994) se hersiening van die Geastraceae sou daar egter nooit iemand coming after te voorskyn tree nie, en desondanks Bottomley se vermanende woorde het haar werk, as enigste beskikbare omvattende publikasie oor die onderwerp, gou verhoogde status ontwikkel en dien dit steeds as ‘gesaghebbende’ standaardbron met betrekking tot die taksonomie van die Gasteromisete in suider-Afrika
