Abstract
Senecio canoi, a new species of Compositae of the high Andes of Southern Peru, Puno department, is described and illustrated. Senecio canoi is a perennial species differing from others in the ser. Suffruticosi subser. Caespitosi by having tufted habit, oblong-spathulate leaves with toothed margin, glabrous, and white flowers.

Summary
Senecio canoi is morphologically similar to S. sykorae Montesinos and S. gamolepis Cabrera. It can be distinguished from them by the oblong-spathulate leaf-shape (vs linear-lanceolate in S. gamolepis and obovate-spathulate in S. sykorae), leaf margin dentate (vs entire in S. sykorae), white corolla (vs yellow in S. gamolepis), and an involucre of 13 phyllaries (vs 7-9 in S. gamolepis and 12-14 in S. sykorae). De 5-7 × 1-1,5(2) mm, alternas, crasas, con lámina oblongo-e spatulada, atenuada hacia la base, de color verde oscuro en hojas jóvenes y de color verde claro con márgenes amarillentos en hojas maduras, ápice obtuso, margen revoluto con 2-3 dientes por lado, de 0,1 mm de longitud, subglabras, con tricomas de 0,1-0,4(0,8) mm de longitud en la mitad inferior. Distribución y hábitat: Senecio canoi es una especie supuestamente endémica de Perú.
