Abstract
A number of new g-substituted a,b-unsaturated butenolides have been synthesized by the condensation of phenols with b-(3-nitrobenzoyl)acrylic acid and b-(4-methyl-3-nitrobenzoyl)acrylic acid. KEY WORDS: Butenolides, Aroylacrylic acids, Phenols Bull. Chem. Soc. Ethiop. 2010, 24(3), 467-471.
