Abstract
L-shell X-ray production cross sections are reported for 4 9Be + ions incident upon thin 29Cu, 30Zn, 32Ge, 35Br, 40Zr, an targets. Incident beam energies range from 0.5–2.5 MeV. The results are compared to the predictions of the first Born and ECPSSR theories. The first Born theory overpredicts the data everywhere, especially at high energies, while the ECPSSR theory tends to underpredict the data at low energies and accurately predict the data at high energies. The low energy discrepancy may be due to multiple ionization effects on the fluorescence yields used to convert the total ionization to X-ray production cross sections.
