Abstract

This paper presents the characteristics of LS-3000 digital controller. A remark is specially given to its functional block programming capabilities and automatic tuning procedures. The control loop is build by connecting several blocks, each implementing a particular functionality (PID control, on/off control, linearisation, filtering, etc.). PID tuning can be easily achieved with minimal knowledge of the process characteristics. Fuzzy tuning allows the operator to adjust control parameters according to the observed qualitative output performances. Its PID tuning and control algorithms are tested in simulation with the benchmark provided by Åström and Hägglund. Results are also included which show LS-3000 performances with a real temperature process.
