Abstract

Cardiac L-type calcium channels (LTCC) and their modulation figure crucially in the normal function and pathophysiology of the heart. These channels convey calcium influx that shapes the cardiac action potential, initiates excitation-contraction coupling, and supports inotropy. To fulfill its function, LTCC activity is tuned by multiple regulatory proteins, including well-established auxiliary subunits and non-canonical modulators. In this context, leucine-rich repeat containing protein 10 (Lrrc10), a cardiac-specific protein, has emerged as a non-canonical subunit of LTCC.
