Abstract

A new design procedure for optimal tuning of PI Controller parameter tuning for Transport delay - Phase Locked Loop (TD-PLL) using Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) based approach is presented in this paper to ensure optimal control effort. The proposed tuning methodology is also compared with other existing tuning methods under various grid disturbances. The simulation results using MATLAB/Simulink environment are incorporated and experimental results are presented. It is shown that the proposed tuning method allows in achieving a better dynamic performance in terms of fast system response without significant overshoot and steady-state error while ensuring minimum control effort.
