Abstract

In this work, the applicability of a circular microstrip antenna with U-slot and L probe in the detection of partial discharges in power transformers was analyzed. Dimensional parametric analyzes were carried out for the design of an antenna with optimized performance. The joint application of both bandwidth enhancement techniques proved to be more efficient in terms of bandwidth and gain than their respective individual applications. In addition, the values of bandwidth, size, gain and directivity obtained allow to classify the designed antenna as applicable in the detection of partial discharges in power transformers.
