Abstract
ABSTRACTRutile nano-TiO2 with mesoporous structure was prepared by a simple precipitation method at low temperature with no need of calcination, using titanium sulfate as Ti source, and the product was characterized. The prepared TiO2 nanoparticles are of rutile crystal form (XRD) with an average particle size of 5.0 nm (TEM), a specific surface area of 368 m2/g (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller), and an average pore size of 4.2 nm (Barrett-Joyner-Halenda). Their adsorption property for cationic dye methylene blue was studied systematically. The adsorption kinetics is close to the pseudo-second order kinetic model and the adsorption isotherm is close to the Redlich-Peterson isotherm.
