Abstract

We report low-temperature specific heat experiments for NaCl-type UX compounds (X = N, P, As, Sb, Se, Te) measured on single crystalline specimens. From our experiments, the electronic specific heat C e = γ T increases from UN to UAs, but is one order of magnitude smaller for USb, pointing to rather localized 5f electrons in this latter case. For the chalcogenides γ decreases with increasing anion size.
