Abstract
This paper introduces elliptical patch antenna with three feeding ports A previous design was introduced two port elliptical patch loaded with defected ground structure which acts as two independent antennas [1]. The proposed design is a modified version of the previously proposed one by adding a third rectangular strip in the ground plane. This strip has two optimized slots with different dimensions. The modifications proposed in this paper enable the antenna to operate at three bands instead of two as in the previous design while maintaining the compactness of the antenna The proposed antenna has a small size with overall dimensions 30 × 30 mm2, and operates over the frequency ranges, 3.67–3.95 GHz, 5.3–5.5 GHz, and 5.7–5.9 GHz Thus, the proposed configuration acts as triple resonator and decoupling circuit embedded within the antenna structure with no additional cost. In addition, the simulation results have been shown that VSWR of the designed antenna is less than 1.5 at the resonant frequencies of the three ports. The presented multiport elliptical antenna structure has been analyzed, investigated and optimized using Finite Integral Technique (FIT) numerical method Good port isolation has been achieved. The proposed antenna structure is suitable for wireless communication applications.
