Abstract

The soft magnetic composite (SMC) toroidal cores were prepared by the moulding method. Despite a high binder content, the composites presented excellent magnetic properties: μa above 30, Hc below 10 A/m and Ps around 20 mW/kg. The porosity has been effectively decreased by applying the assorted bubble-reduction treatments. The bubbles content and the size distribution were measured based on computed tomography. The obtained magnetic properties are even better than in the case of the compacted cores described in the previous work. The presented results show that with the use of appropriate densification treatments, the use of moulding technology to produce SMC cores is very prospective.
