Abstract

An optical rotary joint allows transmission of optical signals across a rotating interface. To this date, electrically passive low-loss optical rotary joints are limited to one or two channels only.1,2 We present an optical rotary joint (ORJ) which can couple optical signals from more than one rotating fiber to an equal number of stationary fibers.
