Abstract

Devonian spores are described and illustrated from the Sycyn, Czarnolas and Zwoleń Formations and from the undifferentiated marine sequence in two boreholes of the Radom-Lublin area. The spore zones micrornatus-newportensis, polygonalis-emsiensis, annulatus-sextantii, douglastownense-eurypterota, and optivus-triangulatus are recognised, allowing of age assignment. The upper part of the Sycyn Formation and the Czarnolas Formation in the Pionki 4 borehole, previously considered to be of Siegenian age, are now assigned to the Gedinnian. A late Siegenian and early to mid-late Emsian age is assigned to the middle and upper portion of the non-marine Zwoleń Formation. The overlying marine sequence is, according to the spore data, latest Emsian or early Eifelian within the basal part, and late Givetian in the middle. The taxonomical section includes descriptions of 39 species, of which 9 are new, and proposals for 3 new combinations.
