Abstract

A state-space digital filter realized using the δ operator has been presented to obtain a better numerical performance than the conventional forward-shift operator realization. When implemented with fixed-point arithmetic, it is shown that the δ operator realization has lower round-off noise, lower coefficient error and lower output error variance than the forward-shift operator realization.
