Abstract

Lower estimates are obtained for the leading characeristic frequency of oscillations of a liquid in a channel of arbitrary cross-section with several sections of the free surface of the liquid. The case of oscillations in the plane of the cross-section of the channel is considered. The domain occupied by the cross-section can be multiply connected and bounded by a piecewise smooth curve. The derivation of the estimates is not connected with the need to find standard domains and is not based on variational methods /1–3/.
